Hedgelaying

Restoring, transforming, enabling - in the countryside

Hedgelaying in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and beyond

Hedgelaying is a centuries-old traditional countryside craft, originally used to create a natural barrier to stop livestock straying. Hedges are a natural feature of our countryside, providing an effective boundary as well as a wildlife habitat. Laying helps rejuvenate an ageing hedge by encouraging new growth and  improving its structure and strength. A well-laid hedge needs only regular trimming to keep it in beautiful condition for decades.

From a small garden hedge to large field boundaries, from a young to an old derelict hedge, it’s never too late to restore rather than grub out. Clive can also help with grant applications.
